Civil Engineering, Landscape Design, and Permitting Services for Lombard Cold Storage Facility

Weaver Consultants Group (WCG) provided civil engineering and landscape design services for the proposed 80,000 SF freezer/cooler facility on a 4.4-acre parcel in Lombard, Illinois. The parcel which is located on the north side of North Avenue was heavily vegetated with an abandoned building on the southern portion of the site.  Weaver worked with the end-user and the general contractor to develop a Site Plan that would satisfy the needs of the company while also satisfying the requirements of the Village of Lombard, DuPage County, Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT), and the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency (IEPA). Stormwater detention and Best Management Practices were required following the DuPage County Stormwater Development Ordinance and were provided in above-ground BMP infiltration basins along with four- and eight-foot diameter underground detention pipes. The site is adjacent to an existing hotel and noise pollution and visual screening were a concern. WCG was able to incorporate these into the landscape design in order to create an aesthetic appeal from the neighboring uses.
