Weaver Consultants Group (WCG) is currently assisting a large natural gas distribution company in Northern Illinois with the assessment and evaluation of wetland areas that may potentially be impacted due to natural gas pipeline installation, removal, and/or relocation activities associated with public improvement projects, private site development projects, and general pipeline system improvement projects. These activities generally include floodplain and threatened and endangered species reviews, historic cultural resources reviews, and wetland determinations and delineations following the Army Corps of Engineers’ Regional Supplement and various local and county ordinances.
Through this process, WCG evaluates options were evaluated to avoid and minimize floodplain and wetland impacts and obtaining the appropriate wetland and/or stormwater management permits and approvals from the Army Corps of Engineers and/or the local, county, and state permitting agencies, including the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago (MWRDGC) and the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency, prior to anticipated wetland and/or floodplain impacts. WCG has also assisted the client with the proper implementation of stormwater management practices and monitored pipeline installation sites for stormwater management compliance with local, state, and federal permits.
WCG has completed approximately 1,300 wetland assessments and/or permitting projects on behalf of the client as part of these services. This includes various environmental consulting services related to the development of new facilities and the redevelopment of existing facilities. These services include Phase I and Phase II ESAs; site remediation; underground storage tank (UST) removals and closures; Leaking UST (LUST) incidents reporting and closures; asbestos building inspections; asbestos abatement project management, design, oversight, and air monitoring; waste water discharge permitting, sampling, and oversight; environmental compliance reviews and drilling fluid evaluations, and the preparation of site-specific Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPPs) and Spill Prevention, Control, and Countermeasure (SPCC) plans.
